I deal with a lot of IT consultants on a day to day basis. Java and .NET developers, Network admins, RF engineers, cable pullers, business analysts… just to name a few.
When we meet with potential consultants there is a theme that seems to be reinforced within the industry. Information technology is always moving forward, always progressing. Well known and used products are reinvented in a new development language or a tool is made easier to use for those network admins. Remove the command line and give a GUI interface to the routing and switching devices that manage your network.
It’s always moving forward.
Me personally, I can work with CSS, I can work with Wordpress templates, and web design software. Programming? Not happening. It just isn’t my bag of tea. I’ve always been interested in it — Dreamweaver, Flash, Shockwave Player, things of that nature… but just couldn’t wrap my head around how to make things happen. I once got “Hello World!” to show up in a C++ class in high school and that was about it.
Flash is definitely an interesting tool. Again, one I wish I knew how to use. There’s a new company out there — AntSoft.com — that is developing tools to make your use of different programs easier. My kind of company! They’ve developed a tool called Flash Menu Builder that helps you build menus in Flash. You can use one of the over 100 templates installed with the builder to make drop down menus and things of that nature for your websites.
It looks rather interesting, but it isn’t the only tool they’ve got developed. There are several Flash tools, an eBook tool, and a bunch of HTML tools. Give it a look and let me know what you think!
