I have been working in the call center business for about 7 years now but in the US and the Philippines and have seen many call centers in both places. I have a good friend of mine and a potential partner that I have been working with in the call center for a while now and he has been talking about what an impact it is in having a prestige office over just an ok office and drives me nuts because my office to him is just ok. so First lets go over prestige office, now this is something that when you walk into it you go holy shit this is nice, tile floor, admin offices, employee lounge, receptionist, lockers, executive offices, large Cubicles, high infrastructure and high end dialer. then and OK office would be something that you would walk into and go ok this is going to work ,kind of tight but good price, good infrastructure, good dialer, smaller cubicles, good headsets, training and conference room and receptionist area. This is the biggest problem I see with the Prestige call center is that the cost is like triple of the ok call center and the only difference is the look and size of the call center, most all headsets, dialers, computers are going to be the same. this is the question that I ask my self all the time after talking to my friend about the call center, is it worth the money and what is it going to do for my business? he clams that it would be easier to hire agents and sales clients just because of the way that the call center look and the design also having a full on training room to improve agent sales. I really dont know what to say, I have had agents and clients come into the call center look around and not have a problem with anything but I have also had some come in and go well its ok. this is not going to happen allot with agents because its all about getting a job and how much you are going to pay them, with clients 90% of them will never step foot in your office. Dont get me wrong, I would love to deck out the office so when people walked in they where shocked at how great it looked but the cost to do it is just nuts. we have a new office in Ortigas and we have been talking about giving it the bling bling for my friend, so we set up a vendors day and had a bunch of contractors move me and we told them what we wanted for our huge 750 Square meter office and again I was shock on what it was going to cost to bling the place out. we talking about putting tile, paint the walls, paint the roof, small conference room, one admin office, receptionist desk, track lighting, blinds, 30 LCD TV on the wall, two new dialer not including the software cost, 27 high end chairs, 21 headsets USB, 5 extra Cubicles, two water type aircons to save on power, 4 extra computers blah blah blah. the thing that was going to cost the most was the cost to build the office not for hardware. total cost was going to cost 300,000 PHP thats like 7,300 for only for construction, over all cost for everything was about 14,000 dollars for a 21 one seater.
when you are small or big call center I would first rent the office the size that you would like to grow to with out being to big small something like 1000 to 1500 Square feet good enough for 30 to 50 stations, conference/training room, offices, front desk. start with Cubicles, chairs, computers, next work, dialer, PBX something good for just ten seats at the time or if you have for sure hourly paying clients had more. even if you have investment do this it will save you money in the start up phase. as you grow build you front desk for receptionist, training room, admin offices, and adding seats to your office. start your office from OK to Prestige.
Good idea that my buddy gave me when you are building an office is to have a vendors day, call as many contractors and cublice guys as you can the key is to get them in the office and tell them what you want to each one of them but then tell them the company that is going to get the job to build my call center has to have the best price, terms and time frame. should save allot of money and also get any where from 30 to 90 days to pay.
we are looking at improve the look and feel with strata 100 but only as we can not all at once.
