A Call Center is going to commence its operation from mid June this year to outsource services from the United States.
This is for the first time that a Call Center to outsource services from the US is going to be set up in Bangladesh.
An agreement was signed in this regard recently by eTechLogix Bangladesh Ltd, Daffodil Computers Ltd and the Lighthouse Group in collaboration with Improvement Incorporation of Arizona, USA.
This was disclosed by Managing Director of Daffodil Online Ltd Md Sabur Khan at a press conference at Daffodil International University in the city yesterday.
President of Lighthouse Group Md Akbaruddin Ahmad, Chief Executive Officer of Daffodil Online Ltd SM Altaf Hussain, Chief Operating Officer of Daffodil Computers Md Abdus Salam and IT Consultant of Call Center Project Md Abraruddin were present.
Sabur Khan, who is also the President of Bangladesh Computer Samity, said with 10,000 calls a month being processed in the first phase of operations, the Call Center would provide telemarketing and customer support solutions to companies in the United States.
This is an export–oriented business which will fetch huge amount of foreign exchange for Bangladesh, he said.
The Managing Director of Daffodil Online Ltd said because of labour-intensive nature of the operation of such Call Centers, a large number of Call Representatives would be required.
Some 10 people will be recruited in the first phase and gradually the number would be raised to 450, he said. The Call Center will remain open for 24 hours in three shifts.
According to Sabur Khan, a two-years forecast of this joint venture suggests an increase of calls to over one million per month.
He said similar businesses are in operation elsewhere in Asia.
It may be mentioned that the Lighthouse Group and e-TechLogix are information technology solutions providers in the business of software exports, while Daffodil Online Ltd is a leading hardware and software solution provider in Bangladesh.
We can use a huge pool of manpower who are efficient in English and IT and prove our position in international market, Sabur Khan also said. We hope this initiative will be a good start for Bangladesh.
